FUN FACTS
What are my hobbies and interests
I like to create in InDesign for my husband's Stone Claw Games D&D website, love to read, go camping with friends and family, taking walks with my dogs (major animal lover), and scuba diving whenever I get the chance.
A random quirk about myself
I like to organize (yup, you read that correctly).
Favorite singer / band
I'm into all music genres, what I listen to depends on my mood. If I had to choose one, I'd pick Pink Floyd.
What animal would I be and why
I would be a dolphin. They are among the most intelligent species on the planet, they can travel fast under the water and still interact with other creatures on the surface, they can be independent but prefers to swim in packs, and they are both playful and entertaining.
Get to know me...
When I bought the Fallingwater set I was eager to open it immediately and start building…just like when I was a kid. But I held back. I made a pact with myself NOT to build it until I got a design job at an architecture firm. That day came and went and today, as I look up from my desk at my LEGO Fallingwater on display, I smile. My building blocks may have changed from plastic LEGO pieces to raw materials like concrete, brick and steel, however my love for creating never will.
You can say my life was destined for architecture. I was offered my first architectural job before completing my Bachelor’s degree in 2012, though the direction of my life began much sooner, when my parents bought me my first LEGO set as a child. I had no idea it would change my life forever. These simple building blocks with their infinite design possibilities and nothing to stop me but my imagination would be one of the most amazing gifts I'd ever receive. Every time I received a set I would open them immediately, ignore the pre-designed instructions that came with each Lego box, and loved coming up with my own elaborate designs.
As the years went by, I never outgrew those bricks. Even in college at California Polytechnic State University (Architecture & Environmental Design) in San Luis Obispo, I was still dreaming and still designing. It was then I discovered Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater set from the new (at the time) architecture themed Lego sets. My worlds collided.
